Free Pomodoro timer for students — study solo or with friends

Prodpod's Pomodoro timer runs in your browser with no download required. Customisable 25-minute intervals, built-in lofi music, task tracking, and the option to run sessions in sync with your entire study group.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. Work is broken into 25-minute intervals called "pomodoros", separated by 5-minute short breaks, with a longer 15–30 minute break after every four cycles.

The method works because it reduces the psychological barrier to starting: instead of committing to "working all evening", you only commit to 25 minutes. Regular breaks prevent cognitive fatigue and keep attention sustained across longer sessions.

Prodpod implements the full Pomodoro Technique with one critical addition: you can run the timer inside a virtual study room with friends. Research on the co-action effect (Zajonc, 1965) shows that working in the visible presence of others significantly improves task completion versus working alone.

How to use Prodpod's Pomodoro timer

01

Create a free account

Sign up with Google or email in under 30 seconds. No credit card required, no download.

02

Open or join a room

Create a new focus room or join one your friends are already in. Share the link to bring your study group in.

03

Set your timer and tasks

Choose your interval (default 25/5 min), add the tasks you're working on, and pick a lofi station to set the mood.

04

Study together, track progress

The timer runs in your room where your friends can see your live countdown and current subject. Sessions are automatically logged by subject to your activity dashboard.

Why use Prodpod instead of a solo Pomodoro app?

Apps like Pomofocus and the Forest app run a timer well. But the weakest point of any time management system is still the moment before you start. A solo timer does nothing about that. Prodpod adds social accountability: other people in your room can see whether you're there. The social cost of not starting becomes real.

Who is Prodpod's Pomodoro timer for?

Prodpod works best for people who find solo focus difficult. That includes university students revising for exams, remote workers who miss the ambient accountability of an office, freelancers who need external structure, and anyone with ADHD or executive function challenges who benefits from body doubling.

University students

Run revision sessions with your cohort. Same timer, same breaks, same lofi playlist — from anywhere.

Remote workers

Replace the ambient accountability of an office. Prodpod rooms replicate the energy of co-working without the commute.

ADHD and focus challenges

Body doubling — working in the visible presence of others — is widely recommended for ADHD. Prodpod makes it virtual and free.
